As much was elaboration was an important necessity for the High Renaissance, the Venetian Renaissance focused more on richer colors, detailed patterns, and played with light more. This created an effect of light and shadow with the lights and colors used to emphasize dramatically enhanced depths. Venetian art had the characteristic softness within it that make it more appealing to the viewer and often the settings would be outdoor or rural settings, with more reliance in oil paintings, and later shifted to more depictions of nudity and other sensual subjects.
